Abstract: In Sky-wave Over-the Horizon(OTH)Radar, the distortion and contamination of ionosphere degrade the performance of the backscattered signals greatly. The weak ship target is almost masked by the spreading and splitting for Bragg peak. This paper describes the mechanism of ionosphere distortion and several correction algorithms. It is important for the improvement of ship target detection in practice.
