Abstract: The transfer function of a S mode nonlinear frequency modulated pulse signal is proposed in this paper, The group delay , spectrum function and ambiguity function expression are calculated from the transfer function, and each basic capability of S mode nonlinear frequency modulated signal is obtained from ambiguity function. The example studied in the paper indicates that only S mode nonlinear frequency modulated pulse signal with a little time width can obtain practical doppler frequency domain.
