Abstract:
Some technological issues in designing hybrid excitation synchronous machine(HESM) are presented, including the rotor base of HESM, the topology structure for electrical excitation, the matching rule of stator slot to rotor pole, the harmonic suppression methods, and so on. A HESM with the exciting coils in its rotor (HESM-E-R) is proposed. Besides the flux-regulating characteristic of HESM-E-R, the effectiveness of the skewed-slot method in reducing the harmonic order is studied with the finite element method(FEM). In addition, the influence of the exciting current on the inductance is also analyzed and calculated. Because of the non linear variation of HESM's inductance, id=0 controlling strategy is recommended for the simplification of the system. Finally, a salient pole synchronous generator combining with the permanent magnet(another novel HESM) is presented. This novel HESM has an excellent ability of flux excitation and flux extinction when electrical failures occur.
