Abstract:
Due to the low data rate,poor accuracy of measurement and high maintenance cost of precision approach radar, a new phased-array antenna based on metasurface is proposed to replace traditional mechanical scanning antenna in order to improve the ability of radar. This new phased array radar antenna, which has PIN diode, combined with embedded control circuit, to achieve dynamic control of reflection phase of the unit cell and a new phased array radar antenna based on metasurface finally. Compared with the traditional phased array radar antenna, the new one has a great advantage of low price, small size, lightweight, and high efficiency. The test shows that the new phased array radar antenna not only can meet the precision approach radar antenna′s requirements but also with the advantage of high measurement precision, fast scanning speed, flexible detection method. It starts the train of thought for designing new radar antenna.
