A Study on the Suppression Method for Radar Angel Clutter

Angel clutter is always regarded as slow moving targets when appearing on radar terminal under special weather. And it will seriously degrades the detection performance of radar. In this paper, the characteristics of angel clutter are analyzed with real data of MPRF radar. And the suppression methods of angel clutter based on adaptive MTI and adaptive MTD are proposed according to the Doppler frequency property of angel clutter. Moreover, because the Doppler frequency of angel clutter is unknown, another suppression method based on detecting Doppler channel of the MTD results is proposed. The real data processing results verify that all three methods can suppress angel clutter effectively.
